Damascus, May 22 (Prensa Latina) The statement by the UN under-secretary general for Peacekeeping Operation, Herve Ladsous, that terrorist groups try to benefit from negotiation in Syria on Tuesday is one of the keys of violence in this country.
In remarks to mass media, the official analyzed some of his experiences and what he observed on the ground after arriving in this nation on Sunday, especially the work of observers deployed by the UN to monitor the compliance with the six-item plan presented by Kofi Annan.
Ladsous noted that the deployment of the group, hovering about 270 soldiers and 60 civilians, is the fastest one in the history of this kind of operations, and highlighted his work to establish a mediation to solve many problems and halt violence.
As part of his meeting with the Government, he suggested Syrian authorities to allow peaceful demonstrations to reinforce the possibility to achieve peace and confidence, and begin the political process in the country.
