Libya’s Political Prisoners — Free Them Now!
Mock trials are beginning in Libya for some of the country’s foremost political prisoners. Without access to counsel, prisoners are being tortured and have little recourse. They have not committed any crime. These trials are in violation of international law, and are politically and even racially motivated.
Click here for the names of more than 1000 prisoners being held simply because they are Black.
Please speak up to defend the rights of these people being held unjustly. Their lives are at stake.

Appeals are posted for some of the prisoners but we really need to see mass demonstrations before Libyan embassies globally, demanding the release of these innocent prisoners whose only crime is their political loyalty to the former government or the color of their skin.
Let’s set a date like Sept. 1, anniversary of the al Fateh Revolution, as a day for global protest at Libyan embassies in the name of these prisoners and a general protest against the illegitimate regime.
How could we start organizing such an event. Just posting it and see what happens? The date is perfect, following on the heels of the global anti-imperialist demonstrations.
Another thought would be to include this in the GLOBAL ANTI-IMPERIALIST PROTEST: INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY AUGUST 20, 2012 and repeat it on September 1, 2012.
